USING THE FRESHWATER KITS

START-UP KIT

Organic Aqua Start-Up Kit is for use in new or existing aquariums to start up and maintain a system for 4 weeks. After this time a Maintenance Kit is used every 4 weeks.

You can now add fish immediately, hospital eliminating the need to wait 2-3 weeks for the filter to mature.

Organic Aqua also eliminates the need to do a water change every 2 weeks. By doing a 25% water change every 4 weeks using an Organic Aqua Maintenance Kit, the tank will remain sufficiently clean.

4 easy steps-

  1. Fill the tank with water and check pH and temperature
  2. Ensure all the equipment is working correctly.
  3. When you are ready to add the fish, first add the sachets of powder (Health Treatment) and granule (BBAC) and 1/4 of the bottle of General Treatment.
  4. Acclimatise the fish properly and release them into their new Organic Aqua home!

Please note-

1) When converting an existing system to an Organic Aqua system, firstly perform a 25-75% water change depending on your tank’s water quality.

This is a good opportunity for a really good clean out- remember, OA maintains a clean tank, not cleans a dirty one!

Wash out your filter media in tap water or change altogether (use only sponges/mechanical media- not specific biological media). In the case of large water changes sometimes the fish are better removed while the change over takes place to reduce stress. Add the SUK to the new water and check temperature and pH are ok before acclimatising fish back in.

2) Only add the OA just before you add the fish- OA needs fish waste to work and will die off over time if there are no fish in the aquarium.

3) OA turns your fish’s waste into a gas which must disperse. If your lid is tight fitting with no holes it is recommended to leave it open at night.

Recommended equipment for using OA.

1. Airpump– this can be used to keep oxygen levels elevated which helps keep the OA working. Must be used in systems where the outlet of the filter does not sufficiently break the surface of the water.

2. Filter– placed high enough to break the surface of the water to ensure good penetration of oxygen throughout the tank. In some systems a filter and airpump works better. The filter media should be purely mechanical and media should be washed in chlorinated tap water or changed for new media every 4 weeks.

MAINTENANCE KIT

The Organic Aqua Maintenance Kit is designed for use every 4 weeks after the completion of an Organic Aqua Start-Up Kit.

This allows for a 25% water change and gravel clean.

4 easy steps-

1. Remove 25% of the water using a gravel cleaner.
2. Wash filters as described above
3. Top up tank with water that is same pH and temperature.
4. Mix the 2 sachets in a small amount of tank water and add evenly to tank with 1/4 of bottle of GT.

You are now good to go- just add a quarter of the bottle of GT every week to maintain!

REMEMBER- WHEN USING OA, TESTING FOR NITRITE, NITRATE AND AMMONIA WILL OFTEN GIVE FALSE READINGS- WATCH YOUR FISH- THEY WILL TELL YOU HOW HAPPY THEY ARE!

Happy Fish Keeping!
